Issue: Application 10 used for Pb content and part is NOT a Legacy Spare Part
This application code covers three ELV, Annex II exemptions: 7(a), 7(b), and 7(c). All of those exemptions can only be used for Legacy Spare Parts and each of the exemptions has a different expiry date. This makes using Code 10 correctly a bit of a challenge. You may or may not be able to use Code 10 depending on the following factors:
- the amount of Pb present in your material;
- what the Pb is used for in the material;
- what type of part the material is used in; AND
- the status of your part: New or Legacy.
The Exemptions
- Application Code Language in IMDS:
- 7 – Vulcanising agent and stabiliser for elastomers in fluid handling and powertrain applications
- ELV Annex II Language, Scope, and Expiry Date:
- 7(a). Vulcanising agents and stabilisers for elastomers in brake hoses, fuel hoses, air ventilation hoses, elastomer/metal parts in the chassis applications, and engine mountings
- As spare parts for vehicles just on the market before 1 July 2005
- Application Code Language in IMDS:
- 7 – Vulcanising agent and stabiliser for elastomers in fluid handling and powertrain applications
- ELV Annex II Language, Scope, and Expiry Date:
- 7(b). Vulcanising agents and stabilisers for elastomers in brake hoses, fuel hoses, air ventilation hoses, elastomer/metal parts in the chassis applications, and engine mountings containing up to 0.5 % lead by weight
- As spare parts for vehicles put on the market before 1 July 2006
- Application Code Language in IMDS:
- 7 – Vulcanising agent and stabiliser for elastomers in fluid handling and powertrain applications
- ELV Annex II Language, Scope, and Expiry Date:

Action Required:
If your part is a Legacy Spare Part and fits one of the exemptions above, then check the Legacy Spare Part checkbox on the Recipient data tab and resubmit the part.
If your part is a new part and there is no appropriate code for your part, contact your customer as a design change may be required.
