Issue: Entry in Name field = Entry in Trade Name field
The material name violates IMDS Recommendation 001* because it is a trade name. Recommendation 001*, Rule 4.4.2.B states: The material name must not be a trade name. Trade names can be entered in the field “Trade name.”
The goal of a material name is to convey information along the supply chain. It should clearly identify the type of material no matter how far along the supply chain the MDS travels.
For example, you may know that BJXP912 is a red paint; but your customer’s customer’s customer’s customer is not likely to know that. The regulatory authorities who may be reviewing IMDS data certainly will not. The correct material name would be Paint (red) not BJXP912.
Action Required:
Revise the material name to meet Recommendation 001 Rule 4.4.2.C or 4.4.2.D and Guideline 4.4.2.a as appropriate and resubmit.
